Interactive Design, Examples

A category in interactive design can include website layouts, as a designer can choose to what extent a viewer may be able to participate and contribute to the site. Such an example of Web 2.0, where the information is not static on the page yet delivered in an interesting and interactive approach.
Examples of web interactive design:

Animal Logic
Animal Logic’s company site provides interaction by forcing the viewer into participating with the site in order to uncover the studio’s information, such as contact details and project works.
The main links are provided to the top, set up as categories to guide the audience as to what they are looking for. Yet it is not until such links are clicked on, does further information begin to unravel, for example when viewing Animal Logic’s works archive, their titles are spread across the page with accompanied thumbnails recognizable to the viewer. Once clicked on, the site opens up specific information regarding that project, with a scroll through gallery of screenshots, etc.

StripGenerator
StripGenerator.com provides an example of interactive web design through it main purpose of generating web comics for personal and blog use. The site allows visitors and members to develop their own comic strips through the provided clip art of the site while given free range to drag and drop desired content onto the project and manipulate it one’s preference.
StripGenerator also reflects interactivity by encouraging users to upload their finished comics and contribute to the development of the overall site.

PoseManiacs
Encouraged to participate with the site’s content, PoseManiacs.com approaches their information delivery by an interactive means. The site acts as an archive of varied poses for art references, to the right are categorized themes, such as male, female, walking and angled. When the viewer selects a specific pose the page loads afresh to display it, interactively allowing the user to then click and drag on the image to adjust angle and focus, providing a single pose reference with multiple usages.

RateMyDrawings.com
RateMyDrawings.com displays interactive design by its main purpose, allowing members to draw on the site, upload such drawing and allow community feedback. A user is able to draw a image using the site interactive means, then once finished, the complete image is available to the online community through a playback function which has recorded what the artist has done through the process leading up to the finished image. In short, the site allows an audience to view the in progress version of the design, from start to finish. Users are then able to comment, rate and give feedback on the drawing and artist, hence an interactive community.

Online Chat Rooms and Games
Many online chat rooms, such as IMVU or Habbo which achieves interactivity through a visual interface can be deemed as a web interactive design, taking upon the characteristics of Web 2.0’s chat sites and communities and applying pixilated avatars. The interactivity is continued and carried through the continuous options of customization and socializing of other community members.
Online games can be suggested an example, much like the visual chat rooms with personalized avatars and participation within the community. Many games now are developing themselves without the hassle of downloads, such as children sites of Disney and Neopets where the games are available through web browsers with a simple mouse click and automatically produce interactive material to keep the audience entertained.
